Yes We Can
My hope for the future is that we all can set aside our petty disagreements and differences, and start working toward what is best for the country and world as a whole. Whether our disagreements are due to political, religious, ethnic, or racial reasons, it is vital to everyone's future that these things are set aside to some regard and that everyone begins to make concessions and sacrifices. We need to make strides toward using resources much more carefully and efficiently, avoid pushing ourselves into the business of other countries, and look internally at the things we need to do to change our predicament instead of examining the faults of everyone else. My hope is that we begin making the sacrifices we need to, and begin taking it on ourselves to get back on our feet through this economic crisis and strengthen and reinforce the values of equality and freedom that our country was founded on. The best way that I could do my part in these aspects is getting out into the community and passing on the gifts that I've been blessed with by performing service in the community. With all of the gifts and successes that I have been so fortunate to gain, I feel as if I could be of great service to all of those around me and at least offer them the help they may need. Our trip to San Francisco was an eye-opener in that we saw how many people are out there struggling while so many around them who could easily lend a hand turn a blind eye toward them. Hopefully we can be the ones that begin to end this trend and begin to take an interest in others as well as ourselves. This is my hope for myself, and the others in our group and our generation.

My cause
The cause that I'm most passionate about is bringing home the soldiers of the United States home from Iraq. Allowing those who can push our voice across, (Senators and Representatives) as we voice either or displeasure or support, to hear our opinions is the only way that the current administration can properly lead our democratic nation. This has been a very important issue worldwide, and I feel that the country would benefit far more from the removal of troops from Iraq than by their continued presence in the nation. With the internal problems that the United States is experiencing right now (economy, healthcare, leadership, etc.), it seems we should shift our focus inward and begin to do the things that will help ourselves the way that the current administration has claimed to try to help Iraq. This issue has greatly influenced my vote in the 2008 Presidential Election, as I feel that the war is an issue that will begin to settle the other troubles that the United States is experiencing.
